Instagram is releasing a new format for viewing stories on a desktop. Instagram Stories will feature in a handy way in the new design, which makes it easier to look at the desktop. Instagram had started testing the redesign earlier this month and it seems to be rolling it out to all users. In the new design, users will see a carousel of stories, including clickable previews of the previous and next stories.
The redesign makes Instagram Stories easier to use on the desktop and also makes it easier to keep track of where you are in the Stories queue. It is being rolled out for Windows and Mac users. The new multi-story carousal version has started appearing to us. It is likely to be rolled out to all users soon.
As long as the address stays as it is, you will now see five Instagram Stories on your desktop, with one playing in the middle. The next story appears when you are finished looking at one or if you click the arrow button on the right, indicating that you want to move on to the next one. The carousel keeps changing as you move forward.
The redesign for Instagram Stories includes manual stop / play and volume buttons. In addition, it also has an option that allows you to respond directly to the stories, such as Instagram Stories on the phone.
The update was being tested to a ‘small group’ of Instagram users in December and was reported earlier this month.
Instagram Story update makes for a cleaner user experience. It’s easier to access through Stories on the desktop-owned Facebook platform now, compared to earlier. The redesign will be especially beneficial for those who use a desktop for Instagram on a regular basis.
