Instagram is expected to get support for Apple’s new ProRAW photo format today, according to a member of the team working on the app.
In a rather textured tweet earlier, Instagram for iOS team member Tim Johnson announced the feature, saying it’s coming “this morning” but it could “take a while to multiply out” . “
It’s not yet clear if an app update will be needed or if Instagram is making changes on the server side, but it seems none of that has happened to me yet. Johnson says Instagram in-app editing tools can’t take advantage of ProRAW like that, however, meaning anyone who wants to make the most of the format should edit in-app third party before uploading to Instagram.

Photographer Austin Mann recently explained why ProRAW is so good, although I doubt that posting images to Instagram will show them to their full potential.
I have reached out to Johnson for more information and will update this post if and when I receive it.
