Paul Mescal seized international fame after playing Connell Waldron in Normal People on BBC Three in 2020 – available on Stan in Australia.

The Irish actor has been living quietly Down Under since December, and recently began filming the film adaptation of Carmen’s opera in rural Australia.

Earlier this month, local Twitter users and mega-fans began reporting what they saw as a leg of the 24-year-old in New South Wales.

On December 25, Paul shared an Instagram photo with the caption: ‘From Sydney with love … Happy Holidays. ‘

However, since he has been virtually under the radar on social ever since fans have taken it upon themselves to try to find the star.

On January 13, one Twitter user tweeted: ‘Audience reports Paul Mescal was spotted on Tinder in Sydney. if this is you, DM me! ‘

While the actor is unlikely to use the dating app, other responses to the Tweet provided a possible glimpse into Paul’s new ‘normal’ life in Australia.

Another user joked ‘there are such as 15 Paul Mescal at Coogee Beach every day’ referring to the large Irish community in the area.

The Australian Daily Mail has contacted Paul Mescal’s management for comments.

Paul showed off his biceps in a black muscle tank and jeans on a Carmen set in Breadalbane, New South Wales, on Friday.

The actor will play Aidan’s male lead.

Filming, first slated in Mexico and Los Angeles, is said to continue in Broken Hill, New South Wales.

Paul’s career has gone from strength to strength since debating as Connell Waldron in Normal People in April last year.

He has since appeared in the drama The Deceived and will appear in The Lost Daughter, opposite Dakota Johnson and Olivia Colman.

Paul’s work as a love student on Normal People along with co-star Daisy Edgar-Jones, was also nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Series or Film Limited at the 2020 Primetime Emmy Awards.
