The two top Democrats in Congress on Thursday called for the ouster of President Donald Trump, one day after supporters stormed and damaged the U.S. Capitol in a horrific attack on American democracy.
With 13 days left in Trump’s term, House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer both said Vice President Mike Pence should attack the U.S. Constitution to be dismissed before then.

In that absence, they said Congress should act swiftly to eliminate it through the impeachment process.
“We are in a very difficult place in our country while Donald Trump is sitting in the White House,” Pelosi said at a news conference.
Members of Trump’s cabinet and relatives of the Republican president have talked about introducing a 25th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution that will allow a president to remove the powers and responsibilities of his office achievement, a source familiar with the situation said, while another source said it did not appear.

Congress formally won the election victory of Democratic President Joe Biden early Thursday, after being obscured by hundreds of protesters who overtook police and raided the building. More than half of House Republicans and eight senators voted to challenge the election results.
During the proceedings, Pelosi pulled Pence off the floor of the House to speak.
Meanwhile, Trump was against staff exodus. One Cabinet official, Transport Secretary Elaine Chao, who is married to Senate Republican top Mitch McConnell, said she would resign, announcing the violence.
Other Trump officials, including Russian chief adviser Ryan Tully and ambassador Mick Mulvaney, Trump’s former chief of staff, have resigned. Further proceedings were expected.

Biden blamed the president for the attack but declined to say whether he should remain in office.
“He let out a total attack on our democratic institutions from the outset. And yesterday was only the end of that non-stop attack,” he said at a news conference.
Facebook, a major social media platform for Trump, also said it would ban Trump posts to Biden’s Jan. 20 consecrations. Shopify’s online sales platform said it would bring down Trump’s stores.

Dozens of Democrats have called for Trump to be ousted during the 25th Amendment or impeachment.
At least two Republicans, Maryland Governor Larry Hogan and U.S. Representative Adam Kinzinger of Illinois, said he should go.
But several Republican sources said that the 25th Amendment effort was unlikely to go anywhere, as Trump had a short time in office.
Democrats’ attempt to oust Trump fell through a brief impeachment in February 2020, when the Republican-led Senate voted to acquit him of allegations of abuse of power and obstruction of Congress after Trump pressured sent to Ukraine to investigate Biden.

Trump promised in an early morning statement an “orderly transition” ahead of Biden’s founding, partly to prevent more workers from leaving. But Trump has stood by the false accusation that the election was stolen from him.
Trump has not criticized the outrageous violence that erupted after he urged supporters Wednesday to march to the Capitol, despite pleas from senior members of his administration.
“I urge the President and all elected officials to strongly condemn the violence that took place yesterday,” said Acting Homeland Security Secretary Chad Wolf.

Trump has further divided himself in the White House, relying on a small group of diehard loyalists and throwing out at Pence and others who want to overthrow him, four sources said.
On Capitol Hill, new fences were installed around the Capitol before Biden was established.
The attack on the capitol was the culmination of months of divided and growing astronomy by Trump and his allies around November. 3 election, with the president once again making false claims that the vote was held hard and urging his supporters to help turn his back on him.

Riots broke windows and stormed the House chamber while lawyers were inside, knocking on doors. Furniture security officers rallied against the door of the room and pulled out the pistols before helping lawyers and others escape.
The FBI called for recommendations from the public identifying people involved in the crash in which four people died.
In confirming the impact of Biden’s election, Trump’s longtime friends such as Pence and McConnell rejected Trump’s request for intervention.

The Senate and House rejected two objections from Republican lawmakers regarding the platform and upheld the final count at Electoral College, with Biden receiving 306 votes and Trump 232 votes.
Both party election officials and independent observers have said there was no major fraud in the election. Biden received 7 million more votes than Trump in the popular national vote.
