Several species of dinosaurs are known to have existed before and the search for more in this area is still ongoing. Even recently fossils of Duckbill Dinosaurs have been found in Africa. This means that these dinosaurs traveled about a hundred kilometers to get to the continent.
Prior to this, fossils of Ajnabia odysseus, a type of duck-eating dinosaur were eaten in mine rocks on Morocco. Scientists discovered that it was about 66 million years ago, which is the end of the Cretaceous period.
The average size of these Ajnabia odysseus dinosaurs was around ten feets or three meters, which is similar to pony size however, some of these species have been found as long as 49 feets or 15 meters. These facts about the dinosaurs of Ajnabia Odysseus were discovered with the help of the studies conducted by his fossils.
However, experts are still confused as to how these dinosaurs arrived in Africa as it is a remote continent completely surrounded by sea at those times. More research is needed to unravel this mystery. Duck dinosaurs were first discovered in North America and that’s where it came from. But then they moved on to South America, Europe and Asia as well.
Nicholas Longrich, a Milner Center for Evolution expert at the University of Bath, said this was the last thing in the world he would expect. It remains a question of how they reached Africa when it was completely isolated because of surrounding water.
The only way they could have reached the spot is by rafting on debris, swimming or sailing with the help of the big tail and strong legs.
