‘I’m very worried’ – Allardyce calls for Premier League ‘break circuit’ after Covid-19 spike

The veterans coach is concerned for his own health as cases of the virus are starting to rise again

West Brom manager Sam Allardyce has urged the Premier League to take a ’round break’ following a recent spike in Covid-19 cases.

A further 18 cases of the virus were reported by the tournament on Tuesday after Manchester City’s suspension with Everton was canceled just 24 hours earlier due to an outbreak of the illness.

There is now doubt over Tottenham ‘s game against Fulham on Wednesday as the Booths are trying to deal with more optimistic matters within the club.

Allardyce, who saw his side lose 5-0 to Leeds United on Tuesday, believes the Premier League must soon take major steps to ensure the safety of everyone involved.

“I and football in general are very concerned,” said Allardyce after Leeds’ loss.

“Everyone ‘s safety is more important than anything else. When I listen to the news that the variable virus spreads faster than the original virus, we can only do the right thing. , i.e. circulation disruption.

“I am 66 years old and the last thing I want to do is catch Covid.

“As we get tested – we had one positive thing this week – it seems to be going around. No matter how hard we try, no matter how many times we try. we get tested, how we wear our masks, how we clean our hands, we still catch many diseases across the country.

“If that helps [a circuit break], let’s do it and let the season run a little longer when we get through. “

Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo also backed Allardyce’s proposal and said it may not be possible to postpone the tournament soon.

“The rise in affairs is rising sharply across the country and we are no exception,” Nuno said after seeing his side lose 1-0 to Manchester United on Tuesday.

“Some things are impossible to avoid. If a breakup is coming, people have to sit down to see if it wants to be better.”

Lower leagues in England are also struggling to deal with a rise in coronavirus cases with seven League One games postponed on Tuesday.
