With no small delay, the most important car in Europe in the last 40 years, Volkswagen Golf, has landed here today (Wednesday), of which 35 million units worldwide have been delivered to date. Champion Motors will begin marketing the strategic hatchback at prices starting at NIS 135,000 for base models with 1.0-liter engines, topped by the 1.5-liter engine and at the top of the new GTI version.

The 8th generation Golf was introduced a year and a half ago in Germany, and like many of its sisters it rests on an upgraded modular floor from the MQB series with adaptation to traditional systems and hybrid and electric versions (such as the Golf E that were never marketed here in previous generations). Relative to the seventh generation it is a bit larger and more sophisticated, but mostly less conservative in its external and internal appearance and tries to break the restrained markers in favor of the younger generation.

Champion will market it in two editions: Life and Life Plus, and apart from the infrastructure of smart active safety systems (including adaptive cruise control with crawling functions and semi-autonomous driving up to 210 km / h), the whole user experience will be completely different and gives the feeling that technology has jumped forward Dramatically, the interfaces, monitors, materials and instrumentation have been updated at all levels. The main display now comes in a size of 8.25 inches, the dashboard is 10 inches digital and like the wind blowing on the automotive industry recently the Golf is also switching to electronic shift control.

In terms of instrumentation, the standard equipment includes a seven-speaker audio system, a cellular connection system with Apple and Android support, parking sensors, a peripheral camera, peripheral LED headlights and more. The Plus model in the 1.5L version only adds keyless entry and propulsion, electric seats, more fancy upholstery, a panoramic ceiling and 17-inch enlarged rims.

The Golf’s new series of engines are equipped with moderate hybrid systems (Mild Hybrid) with a slight effect on fuel consumption and the air pollution index. The 1.0 L engine will take you into the worlds of Golf 8 with a maximum power of 110 hp and 20.4 kg and acceleration to 100 km / h in 10 seconds with an average fuel consumption of about 19 km per liter according to the manufacturer . The 1.5L model extracts a maximum power of 150 hp and 25.5 kg from 1,500 rpm and accelerates in golf from standstill to 100 km / h in 8.5 seconds. Fuel consumption is around 17 km per liter. These engines are connected to a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox.

The honed GTI version continues a tradition of hot hatch compactness for the family driver, for all that that implies; It is armed with a 2.0-liter turbo engine that produces 245 hp and 37.3 kg from 1,600 rpm. 100 km / h in 6.2 seconds. As is customary in the GTI versions it is calibrated for rigidity with the lowering of an inch in the dampers and all of its interior and exterior decor correspond with each other; Double exhaust muzzles, modified front grille with GTI branding, more dynamic posture, sports seats, 18-inch rims and more.
