‘I think a lot of fighters feel deceived’

UFC lightweight Khama Worthy believes Michael Chandler does not deserve a bullet at the UFC lightweight title.

While speaking to reporters during UFC 260 media day ahead of his fight against Jamie Mullarkey, Khama Worthy identified Michael Chandler as an accomplished fighter. However, Worthy said Chandler should not be fighting for the title since he recently lost Patricio Pitbull. ‘The DeathStar’ said Chandler’s long-awaited title climb is not a long climb, an act that many other lightheads have already accomplished.

“I’m not going to lie. I’m a big fan of the martial arts … I’m a huge fan of Michael Chandler but he’s just beaten by Patricio Pitbull like two years on back … He only has a two – win winning streak, has only fought once in the UFC and is getting a title scene, “said Khama Worthy.

“There are a number of guys in the light division … So you’re a bit of a sh *** ing on other people … I think a lot of fighters feel like they’re cheating in this division that he came in and got that title, “Khama Worthy said.

Michael Chandler is ready to fight Charles Oliveira ‘s No. 3 fight for the UFC 262’ s empty lightweight title following the resignation of champion Khabib Nurmagomedov. The UFC ‘s decision to put Chandler in the title fight has caught many eyes as Chandler has only competed once in the UFC – the case of Dan Hooker with KO at UFC 257. Before for his start at the UFC, Chandler lost his Bellator lightweight title to stage 145lb champion Patricio Pitbull in 2019 and left the group after winning his next two fights.

‘I’m new to the UFC but not new to the sport’ – Michael Chandler

Ever since he signed for the UFC, Michael Chandler has been seen as an outsider by UFC teammates. Many see him as the man who jumped the queue to land a great opportunity. While speaking to Ariel Helwani after his win over Dan Hooker, Michael Chandler expressed his views on the matter.

Chandler told Helwani that although he is new to the group, he has been a top-ranked competitor and has fought some of the best fights in the sport. Chandler believes what he has achieved in his career is enough to fight against the top UFC fighters.

“This is what I would say. And I will say this in the most respectful way possible. This is all about ‘earning it’ … Chandler doesn’t earn it. It’s like listening to man, I’m new to the UFC but I’m not new to the sport, you know I’m going to 30 fights here in the two clean fights … I have 27 fights under the unified rules of Martial Arts Mixed. It may not have been in octopus … but I have done it. I have done it with some of the best of them, “said Michael Chandler.
