‘I don’t want to eat our own food’: Lindsey Graham warns against inter-party civil war

South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham has raised warnings about the rivalry between President Donald Trump and Senate leader Mitch McConnell with the two men ‘at each other’s throats’ – even while calling Trump the main image of party.

He warned of the potential impact of this dilemma by avoiding the party’s chances in the midterm elections, traditionally access to gains and the opportunity to remove Democrats from unified national political control.

Graham spoke of the terrifying civil war in the party with Fox News guest Sean Hannity, a Trump favorite. He was not side by side with his Senate colleague about the man who became a political mentor and golf partner.

‘President Trump’s statement today in response to what McConnell said on Saturday is very encouraging. I remind everyone, that Ronald Reagan’s 11th commandment did not speak ill of the Allies, ‘Graham said on the show.

He noted the previous partnership of the two men. McConnell helped push through Trump’s legal announcements as well as tax cuts and other legislation.

Mitch McConnell working with Donald Trump made a hell of a job. They are now at each other’s throats. I’m more worried about 2022 than I ever was. I don’t want to eat ours, ‘Graham warned.

He spoke after Trump issued a shocking and personal statement calling McConnell a ‘political hack.’

Trump went out at McConnell on Tuesday through his Save America PAC, shouting at the Republican Party’s highest elected figure ‘dour, sullen’, ‘unsolved political hack’ days after he voted to get Trump from provoking Capitol’s resentment but then putting a taste of his behavior in an excoriating speech.

In his lengthy, racist and vitriolic statement from Mar-a-Lago, Trump also accused McConnell of ‘destroying’ the GOP and urging party elders end his leadership.

Mitch McConnell was critical to Donald Trump’s success. Mitch McConnell got the tax cut through, a big cut in taxes, with a Republican majority with two votes. Mitch McConnell is keen to give credit to Amy Coney Barrett as one, ‘said Graham.

He then gave some advice to his colleague. ‘What I would say to General McConnell, I know Trump can be very handy, but he is the strongest figure in the Republican Party. We don’t have a chance to bring back a snowball in hell without Donald Trump. If you don’t get that, you’re just not looking, ’he said.

He compared McConnell with the director of the McCarthy house, who visited Trump at Mar-a-Lago after the Capitol riot, despite receiving an angry phone call with Trump on the day of the riot.

‘Kevin McCarthy is the leader of the House Republican. He has taken a different approach for President Trump. I would advise Sen. McConnell to do that, ‘said Graham.

What could I say to Sen. McConnell, I know Trump can be very handy, but he is the strongest figure in the Republican party. We don’t have a snowball opportunity in Hell to get the majority back without Donald Trump. If you don’t get that, you’re not just ‘looking,’

Trump attacked McConnell describing him as an opponent of the movement, and established a major struggle. McConnell voted to get Trump at his impeachment trial but then resigned in Jan. 1. 6 riots.

‘It will never do what needs to be done, or what is right for our country. Where necessary and appropriate, I will bring back key competitors who will rebuild Great America and our American policy first. We want great, strong, thoughtful and compassionate leadership, ‘said Trump.

McConnell, 78, wrote in the Wall Street Journal Monday that he did not dislike the seven Republican generals who voted for impeachment.

McConnell set out his reasons for voting for liberation – arguing that he felt the Constitution did not allow a president who had already resigned.

However, by carefully threading the needle, he demanded that he respect the people who voted differently for him.

‘I do not make my own colleagues’ own decisions,’ he wrote. ‘I respect seniors who reached the other answer. McConnell also reiterated his strong criticism of Trump, which he said he personally insulted.

McConnell on Saturday, shortly after voting for an acquittal, accused Trump of ‘shameful renunciation of duty’.

On Monday he wrote: ‘There is no question that former President Trump has a moral responsibility. His supporters stopped the Capitol because of the deceptive lies it shouted into the world’s largest megaphone.

His behavior during and after the riot was also unbelievable, from attacking Vice President Mike Pence during the riot to praising the criminals after he ended up. ‘
