Stamford Bridge academy graduate admits he has room for improvement, with plan to succeed under Frank Lampard
Callum Hudson-Odoi says he is aware of his “flaws” at Chelsea but, after talking more about encouraging a move in 2020-21, is adamant that they will eliminate them and become a major part of Frank Lampard’s plans.
A graduate of Stamford Bridge academy has always been highly regarded by those in west London.
After an explosion on the scene as an exciting teenager going forward, great things were expected from Hudson-Odoi.
Injury and competition for places have hampered his progress at times, and talk of interest from Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich seems far from over.
The England international, however, has made his way back to favor late and wants to make sure he unlocks his full potential under the legendary guidance of Chelsea.
Hudson-Odoi, who has made 16 appearances for the Blues this season, told the clubs official website of his development: “No one is a perfect player. There are always flaws and you want to keep improving every day.
“I want to work hard and learn every day. I want to keep educating myself whether it’s at home watching cookies or just learning under the manager.
“He knows what I’m going to do and he knows what’s right for me and how I play so I want to keep learning under control and work hard.
“Every time I get on the pitch or in training, I want to give my best every time. I want to give 110 percent in the game.
“I always want to make sure I’m ready. The best way is to train in a game. ”
Chelsea have been struggling for consistency in 2020-21, with just four points taken from their last six Premier League games, but a star-studded squad is still looking for big money goods.
The FA Cup 4-0 victory over Morecambe was secured last time out, with that tournament allowing Hudson-Odoi, Timo Werner and Kai Havertz to find the target and restore any fragile confidence. .
“We will continue to develop and continue to work hard,” Hudson-Odoi said.
“This game was a good step for us, we want to go back in the right direction to win games, so hopefully this is a good start and we will continue to going and continuing to push.
“We want to keep pushing forward from this game and hopefully we continue to win games and get a good run. Like I said, this game was a good step. I feel like we needed this game to show the right mindset and perspective to get the job done.
“We kept a clean sheet and scored four goals and that’s a good thing for us. We want to continue to improve at both ends of the pitch. We are all heading into the next game against Fulham full of confidence trying to win that game as well. ”
