Whether you’re changing photo services or just getting started, here’s how to delete all photos from your iPhone.
Your iPhone treats the Photos app as an attractive item for all saved media and can get it very quickly. You may have saved every meme you’ve ever seen or just moved to Google Photos, its time to erase your photo library.
iCloud and select photos
First, you need to consider whether you want to erase all your pictures from everything, everywhere, forever. If you use iCloud Photo Library, if you delete the photos on your iPhone, they will be deleted in the cloud and all devices connected to your iCloud.
Before you do anything, you should back up your photo library by saving a duplicate version or exporting all images on a Mac. Deleting photos is a permanent operation.

Disable iCloud Photos before deleting your library, select the photos to delete
Toggle Photos app settings
- Open Options App.
- Select “Pictures.”
- Turn off “iCloud Photos” if you want to influence only photos on your iPhone.
- Turn off “Shared Albums” and “My Photo Stream” if you want the Photo app completely empty.
Select pictures to remove
- Open the Photos app.
- Tap on “Library” and then “All pictures.”
- Tap on “Select” in the top right hand corner.
- Tap on pictures to remove the ones you want.
- There is no “Select All” option for this step.
How to choose pictures quickly

- Press and swipe your finger up in a scroll motion to begin selecting multiple images.
- Leave your finger on the screen to continue exploring and selecting images.
- Accelerate photo selection by using your other hand to make another move back and forth.
- This is a two-finger operation, one finger will remain on the display to start the scroll while the other finger accelerates it.

Delete photos permanently
