How to create tab groups in Chrome Android browser

One of Chrome’s best features for being organized comes to Android: the all-powerful tab groups,”Which lets you collect your tabs in more useful bags than at random scattering them over your browser – or, on your phone, go ahead separate pages. However, you may need to enable a semi-hidden flag in your browser to access this useful feature today.

To get started, make sure you are running the latest version of Chrome on your Android device, update through Google Play Store. Then, lremove the browser and enter this into the address bar: chrome://flags

You will be taken to a screen that looks like this:

Quickly check for “Tab Grid,” tap on the drop-down for the Grid Tab Shape flag, and select the regular “Enabled” option. Reboot Chrome and tap on the box to the right of your address bar to open a few new tabs. You will immediately see that they are now organized a the shape of the grid, rather than exhibiting leaves sitting on top of each other.

How do you put these tabs together? It’s easy. Just long press on one and drag it over another. R.epeat the process to add more tabs to your tab group:

You can also tap into the group itself and use the “+” icon to add new tabs as you see fit. To combine several records at once without pressing each one individually, tap on the three-dot icon in the top right corner of this screen and select the new one Group tabs option. You will then be able to simply tap on the free tabs you want to organize in a group, and then tap on the Group button to make them new friends.

Finally, if so long press on any hyperlink in a Chrome custom window, you will see the option to open the new tab in a group:

Tap on it, and the original page you were looking at will now be merged with the new link you clicked on long ago, and you’ll see icons for both at the bottom of your Chrome browser. This is an easy way to navigate between tabs in your group, and you can also “+” image on the right to quickly add more tabs.

Of course, if you don’t like the layout of the grid or tab groups, you can turn off the feature again using the same Grid Tab Shape flag as before. Just set it to “disabled,” and your browser will return to its previous state – for now.
