“He’s not going to go down in UFC Champion history books- Kamaru Usman explains why he’s a BMF champion and not Jorge Masvidal

Kamaru Usman is currently preparing for his next title defense against Gilbert Burns. However, the UFC welterweight champion did not hold back when asked if it was the BMF after defeating Jorge Masvidal.

At UFC 251, Kamaru Usman defeated first-time BMF champion Jorge Masvidal in prime fashion. The Nigerian Nightmare went on to beat the highest welterweight through a decision after Gamebred went on a six-day notice to fight Usman.

Speaking to the media ahead of UFC 258, Kamaru Usman commented that the BMF title is just a partnership base created by the UFC for Jorge Masvidal and Nate Diaz. The welterweight champion said Masvidal, the belt keeper, will not go down in history as a UFC champion.

“Of course I’m the BMF if that’s the thing. You know, I said before, that’s just kind of something they created just for that event, it’s like giving it a medal of participation. The boys who are taking part in this event, that’s not real gold. It’s not going to go down in history books like ‘UFC Champion’, “Usman said.

Kamaru Usman has established himself as one of the strongest heroes in recent UFC history. After winning the UFC welterweight title from Tyron Woodley, The Nigerian Nightmare went on to successfully defend his strap against Colby Covington and Jorge Masvidal.

Since losing Usman last year, Masvidal has vowed to return to title controversy but has also made it clear he wants to fight off his best old friend Colby Covington. Chaos vs Gamebred winner could remake Kamaru Usman.
