Health Officials Explain How Vaccine Circulation Works – NBC Palm Springs – News, Weather, Traffic, Breaking News

The US is still struggling with vaccine distribution.

“We knew this for months and we didn’t do the design and now we’re trying to catch up,” said Dr Ashish Jha, Dean of Brown University, School of Public Health.

California is deep on its knees in vaccine circulation.

“In fact we now have a few more Moderna doses than we do Pfizer doses. Doses of 1.135 million Moderna are now pledged in this state. 1,090,000 doses of Pfizer, ”said Governor Gavin Newsom.

Local hospitals have received loads of both vaccines and Riverside is progressing through their rollout plan. There are several stages and levels, at which stage most healthcare workers have been vaccinated.

“Hospitals have been vaccinating their high-risk staff, we want them to be vaccinated until they are protected,” said Kim Saruwatari, Director of Public Health with Riverside County.

Nursing homes are up next and work directly with pharmacies.

“Walgreens and CVS coordinate directly with our skilled nursing facilities and even some long-term care facilities,” Saruwatari said.

Next line, first responders and other medical staff not treating covid patients.

“We are also starting the first responder vaccination so we have been working on developing a plan for that and it will be a multi-faceted approach,” Saruwatari said.

That rounds level one, but still, two more rows left in phase 1A before moving on, beyond that the public is still making way away from get the vaccine.

In a conversation with Governor Newsom, Dr. Fauci gave some hope for a return to regularity.

“So let’s say in April, this is what I call the open season, that’s anyone, anyone who wants the vaccine can get the vaccine. if we do this type of vaccination through April, May, June, July, before we reach the early fall we will have good enough herd immunity to get back to a strong concentration of regularity, ”said Dr. Fauci.
