A consortium of health organizations and technology companies, including Microsoft and Oracle, is working on a project that identifies who received the coronavirus vaccine and prevents others from making false claims.
Vaccine Credit Initiative (VCI), the campaign aims to help people store encrypted digital copies of their vaccine records in a digital wallet.
VCI says it is working to make the certifications using the SMART Health Card specification, which is designed to allow people to store vaccines or laboratory results in a digital wallet, and could come in the form of a QR code for scanning for verification.
However, digital passports and paper certificates are raising concerns among privacy groups who believe that in order for everyone to receive an effective vaccine, any system that requires a passport to obtain or unfair service, ‘as stated by Privacy International.
‘Vaccination is a public health exercise, and cannot be a new discrimination,’ the group said on its website.
The group agrees that such records are ‘essential’, but is concerned that they could ‘say worms’. ‘
To what extent do these documents need to be trusted to be reviewed by other providers? And who else wants access? That is where things get more complicated. And that’s where ambitions are, ‘says Privacy International.

VCI does not seem to view its project as a fair thing, but as a way of helping society to return to pre – pandemic life and do so safely.
The campaign culminates in the Foundation of the Commons Project, which is working on its Common Route that allows passengers to display vaccine or coronavirus test results as they fly and cross borders into other countries.
A few airlines, including United Airlines and JetBlue, are currently testing CommonPass.
Paul Meyer, Chief Executive of the Commons Project, said: ‘The aim of the Vaccine Credit Initiative is to empower individuals who have digital access to their vaccine records so that they can use tools such as CommonPass to return to safe to travel, work, school and life, while protecting the confidentiality of their data. ‘

‘Open standards and interoperability are at the heart of VCI’s efforts and we look forward to supporting the World Health Organization and other global stakeholders in implementing and scaling up open global standards. for health data interaction. ‘
VCI includes big names in technology such as Microsoft, Salesforce and Oracle, as well as the U.S. nonprofit US healthcare clinic.
Bill Patterson, executive vice president and general manager at enterprise software company Salesforce, said his company wants to help organizations customize all aspects of the vaccine management lifecycle and closely integrate with the offerings of other consortium members, which will help us all get back into public life. ‘

The digital vaccination licenses anticipate that airlines, stadiums, workplaces and other venues may soon need to undergo injection before admission.
‘With a single platform to help deliver safe and consistent activity and deepen trust with customers and employees, this partnership will be important in supporting public health and wellbeing.’
The group predicts that digital passports will be essential for air travel and wants to test vaccinations ‘as easy as online banking.’
However, individuals without smartphones would receive printed paper with QR codes containing the certificates.
In the United States, where vaccines from Pfizer and Moderna have been licensed for emergency use, vaccinated people can get a vaccine card or a printout.
