“He won’t have that belt much longer anyway”

Aljamain Sterling doesn’t care if the usual UFC Bantamweight Champion Petr Yan wants to fight the next TJ Dillashaw, as he believes the Russian will no longer be the region’s title holder after go against the UFC 259 this weekend.

In addition to the Bantamweight title fight, there will be two more Championship beats on the card at the UFC event on March 4th. Israel Adesanya will try to grab a second belt while facing the Jan Blachowicz Lightweight Heavyweight Championship, while Amanda Nunes defends her women’s meatweight title against Megan Anderson.

Speaking to RT Sport, Aljamain Sterling gave his honest opinion on TJ Dillashaw’s return to the UFC and what he thinks of Yan’s call-out to the Bantamweight vice-champion who served a two-year drug ban.

“I think Petr Yan counts his chickens before they hatch. And I think TJ has to prove himself. He’s been on stuff for years. Years. And he was about about the time he was last arrested. He’s a tough guy.He people know him as, I believe, as one of the faces of the department because of all the stuff he did in terms of his awards , but for me, those are thin, you know. So, there is not much to say about it, you know, “Aljamain Sterling said.

“So I’m not too worried about it. I think it’s a fun fight. It comes back in the mix. It’s a big name. I think that Petr Yan is probably just looking at the bailiff in terms of if he gets paid -per-view points. And I think that’s exactly what counts. But he won’t have that belt much longer at least, so it does not matter, “said Aljamain Sterling.

Yan became a UFC Bantamweight winner after grabbing the white belt in a fight against former Featherweight titleman Jose Aldo. The fight with Aljamain Sterling will be his first Championship defense.
