Speaking to The Sun, Harry urged fans to be careful which families would feed their pets over the Christmas period, as some foods could be poisonous.

He said: ‘There are so many dogs that can’t eat, that we had last year, one of my dogs, Barney, he ate a whole Christmas cake, a whole Christmas cake, right, and so I said I don’t know if it’s bad for them or what, you know, so I ran to the vet, they said: ‘Get it right away.’

‘Barney has a bit of a boy, so Barney ate the Christmas cake. So we take it to the vet, and they have to pump her stomach, because carrots, which would kill them, would die.

‘He would have been killed. Lulu was so poor, she didn’t eat anything, they just pumped her stomach in case she ate some, and nobody knew, and she didn’t even do anything wrong, but she had to suffer too. ‘
