Harry and Megan Merkel’s interview storm: How did the kingdom react?

About a day after the interview of Prince Harry and his wife Megan Merkel aired with the legendary presenter, Oprah Winfrey, in the United States, Buckingham Palace still remains silent and does not address the interview. This is despite the fact that the official Twitter account of the royal family posted tweets as usual during the day.

There was also silence from the Prime Minister Boris Johnson, Who signed his response by saying: “I have always admired the Queen and her unifying role she took on during the crisis. As for the rest, I have in the past been careful not to react in matters of the royal house, and I have no intention of violating this today.” Also, during the day it was even alleged that Johnson did not watch the interview at all.

In contrast, British Labor Party member Kate Green chose to comment on Merkel’s remarks, arguing that Buckingham Palace must investigate allegations of racism. “Megan’s accusations were really disturbing and shocking. I would expect the palace to take them very seriously,” he said.

Moreover, British media executives chose to condemn Merkel’s remarks and voiced comments such as: “Shameful interview, she betrayed the Queen and the Royal Family,” “Merkel has proven herself a woman not worth fighting for.”

The Reuters news agency reported that the two-hour broadcast was the most watched royal broadcast since Prince Harry’s mother, Diana, revealed intimate details about her failed marriage to Prince Charles in 1995.

At the White House, however, they responded by spokeswoman Jen Saki, who said: “Megan Merkel is a private citizen and so is Harry. Everyone needs the courage to tell about their mental struggles, and to tell their personal story. This is definitely something the president believes in.” However, she chose to sum up her remarks as follows: “We have a strong relationship with the British people and with the entire administration, and we will maintain it.”

In an interview, Merkel candidly recounted her difficult moments at the royal house, saying she was so unhappy that she considered suicide or self-harm: “Not only were we not protected, but today we are willing to lie to protect other family members.” The prince also went out against his family and told how his grandmother had postponed the meetings with him time and time again, and as a whole, about feeling betrayed by them.

During the interview as I recall, Merkel dropped the bomb according to which during her first pregnancy, a member of the royal family expressed concern about the potential skin color of the newborn.
