The 16th round of the Athena Wiener League for women in basketball continued tonight (Monday) with two meetings in which Hapoel Rishon LeZion defeated Maccabi Ashdod 88:91 and Maccabi Haifa defeated Maccabi Raanana 64:75 in an away game.
Hapoel Rishon LeZion – Maccabi Ashdod 88:91
A wonderful last quarter of Rishon Lezion gave Ziv Erez an 88:91 victory over Maccabi Ashdod. Gili Eisner led Rishon LeZion’s goals with 28 points, 8 threes, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. After a fickle first half, Ashdod went down to the half with a 49:54 advantage. And moved away from the last Maccabi Raanana in the table.
Maccabi Raanana – Maccabi Haifa 75:64
Maccabi Haifa recorded a victory over the last in the table and improved positions towards the last straight of the season. After an even first quarter that ended at 19:22 for Raanana, the Greens from Carmel took the lead and ran a 11:27 run in the second quarter that closed the story early. Nyya Kofi (13 rebounds, 8 assists) and Fionda Fitzgerald (26) stood out in the guest ranks.
