The triple jumper, Hanna Kenzieva-Minenko, announced today (Thursday) that she will compete in the European Athletics Championships in the halls that will take place next weekend. This is her first international competition in a year and a half. The championship will be held in the city of Torun, Poland, where in addition to the jumper, Salem Bayulin will also participate in the 3,000-meter dash.
At the Israeli Championships two years ago, Knyazeva-Minenko also competed in the long jump. In the third and final attempt, she landed badly and was injured, which prevented her from participating in the World Championships in Doha and the Israeli Championships last year.
Two and a half weeks ago, 31-year-old Knyazeva-Minenko returned for the first time to compete. She did so in the second competition for the faculty tests, where she achieved a result of 13.54 meters. She was ahead of Udo Freshes who was ranked second with 11.40 meters and Yael Shamla who finished third with 11.13 meters.
Meanwhile, the Russian Athletics Association announced today that it will not send athletes to the competition, as they will not be able to compete under the Russian flag, following the sanctions imposed on it after the ban on the use of banned substances.
