Halo Infinite “Spiritual Revival” of the series, Microsoft Says

Microsoft’s 343 Industries has updated the Halo Infinite delay, describing it as a “spiritual remake” of the popular video game series. More importantly, he has shared some new screenshots and artwork from the in-game development, and they are a major improvement over the last, disappointing public preview.

“We’ve focused on two key themes,‘ Legacy ’and‘ Simplicity, ’when it comes to the visual experience we’re building,” says Halo Infinite campaign art director Justin Dinges. “We really want players to feel like they are experiencing a game they can remember (Halo: Combat Evolved), but with modern graphics of course. [And] we wanted to make sure we stay away from overly noisy designs and details that are a prime departure for the team coming off Halo 5. With Halo Infinite, we wanted the take this new adventure back to its roots and create engaging experiences that will never be overwhelmed by unnecessary complexity where reading ability and artistic writing are evident. ”

That feels wonderful, of course, but the plethora of new screenshots provided by Microsoft is driving home what 343 is trying to awaken with this new game.

As for the “spiritual remake” piece, 343 says the new game will feature “Halo iconic images” and will inspire the same wonder and wonder that the original title did 20 years ago.

“We have in particular chosen to embark on the Chief’s journey in Halo Infinite inside the Pacific forest biome on a new Halo ring, an ode deliberately to the past,” Dinges says . “We have [also] they brought the visual design of the Jackals and Grunts back closer to their appearance in Halo 3 and previous titles. We want players to feel familiar with these designs, like meeting an old friend, and experience all that Halo Infinite has to offer. ”

343 also adds new elements to the game as well, of course. The new Grappleshot is a good example, and while it’s unique to Halo Infinite, it will feel familiar to long-time Halo fans and will work as expected. And a new dynamic lighting feature of the day can change the look and feel of environments based on when you visit.

Finally, Halo Infinite offers what 343 says are “some of the most open-ended gaming experiences in Halo history. ”It’s still a sandbox title with clear goals, but the ways in which you accomplish those things depends on the player (or, in co-op mode, players). “There’s no right way to use a particular object or feature,” Halo Infinite play leader Troy Mashburn says. “I can’t wait to see co-op players making subtle stuff and combos that we didn’t even think of. ”

Halo Infinite is still on track for fall 2021 after being relegated far beyond its November 2020 launch schedule, Microsoft says.
