Guinea is announcing Ebola ‘epidemic’ after three confirmed deaths, World News

The pandemic has not yet ended, with new strains being identified, but things are not getting better in this world. Now, Guinea has declared an ‘epidemic’ situation as the country has recorded at least three deaths and seven cases of the Ebola virus.

“Very early in the morning, Conakry’s laboratory confirmed the presence of the Ebola virus,” Sakoba Keita, head of Guinea’s National Health Security Agency, said after an emergency meeting.

The West African country had been earlier, in 2013-2016 with a similar deadly disease that killed nearly 11,300 lives as a result of the deadly virus.

Now, the reported deaths are the first since 2016. In addition to this, five more cases were observed in the town of Gueckedou in the southern region of Guinea.

Patients tested for the virus sign showed signs of hemorrhagic fever. Meanwhile, everyone who came in contact with the infected was put under loneliness, officials said.

Seven patients, four men and three women tested positive after attending the funeral of a nurse who died from the same disease, Guinea health officials said.

“The nurse may have been infectious from a patient,” Keita said. “We’re looking for that patient now.”

These cases were announced almost a week after eastern Congo confirmed Ebola cases in the country. However, to date, no link has been established between the issues of the two departments.

Earlier, the country’s health minister apparently reported four deaths, which turned out to be three in the official series. The reason and evidence behind this have not yet been cleared.
