Former world golfer Greg Norman is out of hospital as he continues his recovery from a possible coronavirus stroke.

The 65-year-old spent Christmas Day in hospital, having found himself lonely on his return to Australia after competing in the Orlando PNC Championship.

The two-time Open champion has been released from hospital to lead to self-loathing at home, and is still awaiting the results of his Covid-19 tests.

“I’m home now after admitting with the ER yesterday, Christmas Day with very suspicious signs of what I read about it related to Covid,” Norman posted on Instagram on Sunday.

“When I returned from the golf tournament last week I self-quarantined Sunday night to where I am today.

“I did a negative test under the PGA Tour bubble for the tournament and again another negative test last Tuesday.

“On Wednesday, day four of crying after opening, symptoms raised an ugly headache – fever, joint fever and muscle, especially on my back and headache. Most of them are still only at a stage less.

“This is what made me admit to myself on Christmas Day because I wanted to know my status for Covid for the health and safety of all around me.

“I had an X-ray and breast blood test where I showed two signs forcing the doctor to say, assuming you are positive with those signs and symptoms.

“They let me out to continue quarantine at home on medicine in our inn away from the main house.

“I don’t have the Covid PCR test results yet. I hope in the next 24 hours.

“Until I get two consecutive negative tests I will continue to part with my Apollo dog keeping me company.”

Nicknamed ‘The Great White Shark’, Norman won the Open in 1986 and 1993, spending over 300 weeks at the top of the world golf rankings.

The Australian was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2001.

“Once again thank you all for your concerns of love and support and try to stay safe, stay healthy and be wise,” said Norman.

“And we’ll put this 2020 in our rearview mirrors and look to 2021 and beyond where we can get back to life no matter what the new norm. God bless you all.”
