But his plan went awry when doctors said he had appendicitis and had to remove the organ, a job he went through.
Graham admitted that he had only ‘recently’ told his mother about his lie.
He said: ‘So we go to the doctor, he examines me, I go,’ ow, ‘and he said to go and sit in the waiting room. I think, “this is awful, he ‘s in there now telling my mum that there’s nothing wrong with me, I’m going to get in so much trouble. ”
“I’ll come back in and say, ‘You have something called appendicitis so you go into the hospital to get your appendix out.’

Fibbing: The presenter, 57, admitted that he had not recently told his mother about the lie, decades later (pictured together in November 2016)
Graham said: ‘So now I think I’m really f ** ked because either I have surgery I don’t need or I tell this doctor there’s nothing wrong with me and I have two very angry adults in the room. ‘
The chat show host said he was ‘on surgery’ and joked that children had to ‘promise’ lies.
He said: ‘You have to promise that I always feel and that is the mistake that other children make. They do not promise a lie. I kept people working. ‘

He also told the story of how he countered Jessica Chastain’s action to her face after getting the wrong end of the stick during a conversation back on stage at his chat show.
Graham was asked about strange events he had had with his guests and told how Jessica was about to appear and he had been talking to him ahead of the show, back on stage.
She talked about how bad she was in Crimson Peak, a movie in which she starred with Tom Hiddleston.
Graham had thought the film was horrible. He told Mel on Thursday night: ‘I thought I should say something and I went:’ Oh well you’re not that bad! ”
He explained that Jessica then said: ‘I mean I’m playing a bad guy. ‘
Graham continued: ‘I was thinking:’ I can’t keep track back now! ‘

He revealed in a previous interview that a lockout has forced him to reevaluate his plans for his retirement after realizing that work had given him a new ‘importance’.
In a new interview with Radio Times, Graham admitted that he was no longer going out of the ‘dream’ after months of reflection while at home.
The Eurovision guest, who recently switched to Virgin radio after a decade at Radio 2, noted that his first plan was to retire and read many books, but by being locked up he had let to do so without giving up work.
He explained: ‘I was in the head that I wanted to go down – at Radio 2 I was thinking of stopping or doing less. I thought I wanted to sit around and read books, but suddenly I had a lot of time to read books and I thought, “Well, maybe this isn’t the dream”.
‘I realized that in locking work it’s not just work – it’s this great thing that is focused on your day. It gave me an important weight that I hadn’t thought of before. ‘
Mel Giedroyc will have a relentless air Tuesday at 10PM on Dave.
