Google has released an update to Google Maps that makes the Street View feature of the service a little easier to use. A new report by 9To5Google reveals that the Google Maps Street View feature is getting a shared screen user interface on Android.
The report says the new UI will launch automatically when users access Maps’ Street View feature after dropping a pin on the map. However, if users try to access the Street View feature directly from a place listing, Maps shows the consistent interface that covers the entire display. Users also get a Decrease button in the bottom right hand corner of Maps in Street View.

In a shared view, Maps highlights trails with street-level imagery in Blue (via Reddit). On the other hand, user-picked photo fields are marked as dots. The report states that users can tap on any location on the map and the round mark with the arrow will show the directions for the location.
This new feature is being rolled out as a server-side update on Google Maps, meaning users don’t have to manually update the app to access this feature. The catch, however, is that it’s now available on the company’s Android app. No word on when the iOS app will get the same.
In particular, the update comes shortly after the company announced that Maps had improved for users who used the app in Indian languages. The app had introduced learning modules that automatically assign names of points of interest (POIs) to 10 local languages, which include Hindi, Bengali, Marathi, Telugu, Tamil, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Punjabi, and Odia.
