For the first time since 2016, when he retired from the national uniform after the Euros, Zlatan Ibrahimovic was called up to the Swedish national team squad. At 39, the king of all-time national team goals is making his comeback after returning to excellent form over the past year in the Milan uniform.
Despite repeated injuries, Zlatan will be on the squad for the World Cup qualifiers against Georgia and Kosovo, and the friendly match against Estonia. Unsurprisingly, Zlatan himself tweeted: “God is back.”
Zlatan’s return to the squad has been brewing in recent weeks, but a back-to-back analysis is very surprising given the star’s public attacks on coach Jana Anderson. More than once he criticized the coach and even accused him of racism when he ignored a summons from players with a different background (“non-Nordic”) to the team.
