GM Bob Myers says the Warriors will be ‘aggressive’ at the NBA trade deadline

Sitting close to the .500 record at the All-Star break, an NBA trade-off date could provide the Golden State Warriors the momentum to find in the chase for the playoffs in the Western Conference.

With Steph Curry playing at MVP level repaired by Draymond Green and the steady play of Kelly Oubre Jr. entering the second half of the season, a lift could help the Warriors build a postseason run.

According to Bob Myers, Golden State could be “aggressive” at the 2021 trading date. When they appeared on the Steiny, Dibs and Guru Show on 95.7 The Game in San Francisco, the Warriors general manager said that the team being “more open” to making and listening to calls around the date than before.

This is the balancing act as far as what makes sense now, but will not hinder us in the future. What we can do that could be beneficial this year and into next year.

We become aggressive. We look around. There were years where we had the best record and were very quiet at the date of the trade. We didn’t do much or make a lot of calls. I think we will be more open in making calls and listening to calls than we were before.

With funds like rookie James Wiseman and a potentially big pick in 2021 from the Minnesota Timberwolves, the Warriors are likely to have the capital to seal a move by the date.

After the All-Star game, the Warriors have shown interest in Victor Oldadipo at Houston and Porter Otto in Chicago, per Kevin O’Connor from The Ringer. If the Warriors remained aggressive in the trading market, the Oladipo and Porter moves could be the first of several possible contracts the Warriors could have as rumors heat up.
