Gita’s detention was extended by consent until Sunday

The Tel Aviv Magistrate’s Court today (Thursday) extended the detention of Bar Gita, the main suspect in the case of laying the grenade at the home of Omar Atzili. Police investigators sought to extend his detention until Sunday, the detention was extended by consent in a decision by Judge Sarit Crispin. Gita, represented by attorneys Shachar Hatzroni, Roi Keren and Shir Arbiv of the Noy-Sennes-Sperling-Hatzroni law firm, maintains the right to remain silent during the investigation. His lawyers will seek his release under restrictive conditions earlier this week.

At this stage, the investigators have not yet found the main evidence in the case – a mobile device, which, if found, will be able to confirm the presence of Gita in the house where Omar Noble’s parents live in Holon. Finding the device could lead to cracking the case and a more serious indictment. Investigators currently own electric bicycles, which were used by the alleged suspect in making threatening graffiti, as well as messages and phone calls.

In any case, the police claim that an indictment against Gita will be filed as early as next week, and further investigative actions that will be done soon may also lead to an indictment against the second suspect, Omri Ben Lulu, whose detention was extended yesterday until Sunday but suspicions against him are much “lighter”. In any case, the plaintiffs in the case will ask for a few more days to complete the investigation, when there is already a lawyer accompanying the case.
