German pilot Samy Kramer seeks injection in the air to mark covid vaccine arrival

A pilot detects a large injection into the air to signal a covid vaccine

A pilot finds a syringe in the sky to mark the arrival of the Covid vaccine in Germany.

A young German pilot said on Sunday he had found a giant syringe in the sky as a way to start the spread of the vaccine against Germany against the coronavirus.

Samy Kramer, a 20-year amateur pilot, had carefully planned the route he had to take in advance to create the impact in the skies over Baden-Wuerttemberg.

The maneuvers involved several 90-degree attempts during Wednesday’s flight that lasted an hour and 40 minutes and covered about 280 kilometers (170 miles).

The syringe was visible on the Flightradar website.

“I wanted to feed people to think about the day the vaccine would be available,” Kramer, a student, told AFP Sunday.

Germany launched the official Covid-19 vaccination campaign on Sunday, but the first jabs were handed out the day before, with a 101-year-old resident in a first-person care home in the country last to include.

In total, Germany will receive 1.3 million doses by the end of this year and then 11-13 million doses by the end of March.

About 65 percent of Germans said they are willing to be vaccinated, according to a poll conducted by YouGov for the German news agency DPA.
