Clooney opened up about his television career in Monday’s episode of the podcast SmartLess with Jason Bateman, Sean Hayes and Will Arnett.

In their close conversation he admitted that he had made seven television series and 13 pilots in his early career as an actor.

That made Arnett realize that his ex – wife, Amy Poehler, is a real ER junkie, and that they would watch every show every night.

‘So I got to know you {Clooney} well on your ER,’ he said.

The Syriana star shared how satisfied he was to live with ER for several years, while showing how popular he was.

‘We were getting something like 42 million people to see the show, and those are numbers that are just unheard of when we had 150 channels,’ he said of the series’ rating.

‘My wife is watching them now and it’s bothering me a lot,’ the 59-year-old said of Amal, 43, before sharing his character’s reputation.

‘I had forgotten about the terrible things I was doing – building on women and those things.’

When Bateman said it would be funny if Amal started getting starstruck with her husband based on Dr. Ross’ claim, Clooney said, ‘Yeah, that’s not my wife,’ which got a big laugh from all three guests.

The guests continued to ask Clooney why he had not settled into family life with wife and children to Amal.

‘The truth is – I met this amazing woman and I took a deep breath. And she was brilliant, funny and beautiful and kind. I was kind of swept off my feet, ‘he admitted.

‘We got engaged after a few months and got married within the first year we met. That surprised me more than anyone else in the world, and everyone else was amazed. ‘

He went on to talk about the joys of parenthood for his three – and – a – half – year – old son – son Alexander and daughter Ella – with Amal.

The couple married in September 2014 in Italy, and included several celebrities Matt Damon and his wife Luciana, Clooney Rande Gerber business partner and his wife Cindy Crawford, Ellen Barkin, John Krasinski and his wife Emily Blunt, Bono, Anna Wintour, and Bill Murray.
