Gary Anderson was left out of something after seeing Mensur Suljovic fight a controversial World Darts Championship, threatening to walk away from the sport despite advancing to the last 16 at Alexandra Palace.

The ‘Flying Scotsman’ was clearly overwhelmed by Suljovic’s systematic approach throughout the competition, but rose from 3-2 down to advance in a decision-making set, reeling off the last six legs unanswered.

Anderson also became upset with his comments about the position of the board on stage, admitting to missing the plot after the opening set.

Anderson has been involved in several times of controversy over the past few years – his defeat of Gerwyn Price in the 2018 Grand Slam final remains one of the most infamous tussles in PDC history.

The two-time Premier League winner also hit the headlines at last month’s Grand Slam of Darts, where he celebrated the rise of gameplay within the sport.

After defeating Suljovic, Anderson once again lamented the ‘dark art’ of his darting rivals.

“I just want to play darts. I’m sure 90 per cent of people are watching at home, maybe they just turned over and looked at Coire or something – I would.
