French league: Lyon at the top after 1: 4 over Nice, only 1: 1 to Marseille

The first round of the season in the French league is coming to an end and tonight (Saturday) kicked off the 16th round, with three games. In the spotlight, Lyon climbed to the top at least temporarily, after beating Nice 1-3. Earlier, Marseille ended in a disappointing draw against Reims.

Nice – Lyon 4: 1

The team that met Hapoel Beer Sheva in the home stage of the Europa League continues to falter, and although they achieved a victory over Nim three days ago, tonight they returned to Sora with a home loss. On the other hand, the team from the Rhone region counts 13 games without a loss, including five wins in the last six rounds. Lyon in first place, as mentioned, although victories by PSG and Lille will take it away.

Memphis Depay scored the visitors’ first with a successful penalty in the 32nd minute, seven minutes later Tino Cadwara doubled and a minute before the break, Amin Guiri shrank in favor of Nice. In the 64th minute, Cadwara added a brace to Carl Toko Akambi who scored Lyon’s third and the one who sealed the final score was Bloom Awar, who found the net in the 73rd minute.

Marseille – Reims 1: 1

Andre Villas-Boas’ team closed out a third straight game without a win, which could keep them away from their top three rivals. On the other hand, Predrag Rajkovic and his teammates can not celebrate the point too much, as the distance between them and the red line is only three points, while the rest of the bottom teams have not yet played in the current round. Yuto Nagatomo scored an own goal that gave Reims the lead, but Florian Thouban equalized in the 45th minute.
