Free passage for vaccinators: This is how the green passport widget will work

On January 5, 2021, a pilot will be launched for the green passport application, which will be given to those vaccinated against corona, to recoverers, and also to those who perform a corona test – for three days from the time the test is performed.

In the first phase of the launch of the app, it will be used to produce a sign beyond the entrance to the “Green Islands” – the Dead Sea and Eilat. Subsequently, the application will have additional uses, including granting an exemption from isolation back from abroad or an exemption from isolation in contact with a corona patient.
This is what the transition permit will look like

During the first month of the pilot, the app will serve as a means of entry into Eilat and the Dead Sea for recovering people (including people with a positive result in a serological test that indicates the presence of antibodies in their body) and are vaccinated without the need for a test. These are about 600,000 Israelis who will be able to move freely to Eilat and the Dead Sea, including about 370,000 recovering (as of today).

Three types of populations

The transition character will be issued through the app to three types of populations:

Recover (including those with serological test results).

2. Vaccines – (valid for one year).

3. Those who were found negative on examination during 72 hours before arriving in Eilat.

How will it work? Anyone who downloads the mobile app will be required to enter a phone number, ID card and date of birth and will go through a verification phase with the records of the Ministry of Health to prevent forgeries.

Children and adolescents under the age of 16 who cannot be vaccinated will be able to receive a transit mark only if they are registered with the Ministry of Health as recovering or those who have been tested and found to be negative. The children will be able to get a transit mark through the parents if they are listed on her parents’ ID card.

The pilot issuance of the transit sign is expected to last about two weeks, and on 15.1 another version is expected to include a QR code, where it will be possible to make additional uses that have not yet been determined, including at cultural and sports events and possibly at various locations (eg malls). In addition to issuing a transit mark, the application will also include information and instructions for business owners and municipal information on Corona data.

Corona Supervisor Prof. Nachman Ash and Prof. Itamar Grotto are promoting the issue of the green passport at the Ministry of Health. A decision regarding a crossing sign that allows entry to large commercial complexes and restaurants is currently under legal consideration due to the issue of restricting freedom of movement and a Corona cabinet decision is required. Another dilemma that arose was that requiring a green passport could exclude from commercial complexes populations such as children and adolescents who could not be vaccinated (except for recovering patients), or alternatively could lead to unwise use of laboratory testing resources for recreation in the mall.

Intelligence Minister Eli Cohen, initiator of the move: “This is important news for businesses and a significant catalyst for a return to routine. The health passport app is a vital move for the economy, business opening and a quick return to routine, and it will be an important incentive to get vaccinated. .
