RESULTS: MGM’s Orion Pictures and Plan B has Academy Award-nominated Sarah Polley writing and directing a feature change of the wholesale novel Miriam Toews Women talking, with Academy Award winner Frances McDormand for appearing and representing through her Hear / Say productions. McDormand first brought the project to Plan B after acquiring the rights.

The novel follows a group of women in a remote religious colony as they struggle to reconcile their faith with a series of sexual assaults committed by the men of the colony. Published in 2018, the novel was named Best Book of the Year by The New York Times Book Review, NPR.Org, The Washington Post, Slate, Publishers Weekly and many more.

Her next film Grab this Waltz the world premiere at the Toronto Film Festival. Stories we tell, her documentary that explores mysteries and memory in her own family, has won Best Documentary Film awards from the Los Angeles Association of Film Critics, the National Review Board, and the New York Film Critics Circle.
McDormand’s next star in Chloe Zhao’s Nomadland, which premiered at the Toronto Film Festival and won another round of rave reviews with many pundits believing it is once again in the awards season mix. She also has a Joel Coen Macbeth’s tragedy, and Wes Anderson’s French Dispatch. All of these follow her Oscar-winning work Three billboards outside Ebbing, Missouri. With her company Hear / Say, McDormand made a profit Everything is a mystery and Olive Kitteridge, the last of which was nominated for 13 Emmys – receiving eight of the awards including two of her own as a Special Lead Actor in a Limited Series and for a Special Series Limited (as an acting producer), as well Guild Screen Actors award for Outstanding Actor in a limited edition.
