He told PTI that the first of these incidents will take place on May 26, and will be seen in parts of West Bengal, Odisha coast and in the northeastern states, except Sikkim, as its moon seen earlier in these places than in other parts. of the country.

“The earth will cover the moon 101.6 percent through this celestial event,” he said.

A full lunar eclipse occurs when the earth comes between the sun and the moon.

Gupt said the annular solar eclipse on June 10 will not be seen in India, and in this event, the moon will come between the sun and the earth, and the sun will get 94.3 percent coverage and be seen as a ‘ring of fire’.

He said that part of the lunar eclipse, on November 19, will be seen from Arunachal Pradesh and some parts of Assam for a very short time.

“At the height of this event, 97.9 percent of the moon can be seen covered by the shadow of the earth. However, the total solar eclipse on December 4, the last of 2021, will not be seen from India,” he said.

This year, there were two solar eclipses and four moons.
