Some of the biggest football clubs in the world have teamed up with the popular online game for the latest update
Football is coming to Fortnite with a new update from Epic Games introducing the Pele Cup and collaborations with some of the biggest clubs in the world.
The ‘Kickoff Set’, launching January 23, will feature 23 club packs as playable skins, a new tournament with real and in-game prizes, and the chance to make an ‘emote’ as an image of Brazil Pele .
Twenty-three clubs from around the world including Manchester City, Juventus, Inter, AC Milan, Santos, Los Angeles FC, Melbourne City, Celtic and Rangers (full list below) the unique male and female game.
Players can win the new kittens in the Pele Cup on Jan. 20, featuring a limited football game mode, and play with Creative Mode’s new Football Island.
‘Pele’s Air Punch’, a new emote based on the celebration of Brazilian mythological goals, will be available for purchase from the shop or as a prize in the Pele Cup.
Regional winners of the tournament will receive a signed Santos shirt, and the top 3,500 players in each region will win Pele’s Air Punch emote and a selection of character costumes.
Nate Nanzer, head of global partnerships at Epic Games, explained the collaboration to ESPN: “We think about the evolution of Fortnite, and all the different IP integrations we’ve done and bring those different worlds into the game, I think we has done an amazing job across movies and comics.
“Batman plays Deadpool and Wolverine and Iron Man. We brought all these wonderful worlds together.
“But in sports, we’ve had an incredible partnership with the NFL, but we haven’t done much beyond our NFL partnership. Over the past year, we’ve been focused very much about how we can grow our footprint in sport.
“Certainly there could be things with today’s football players going on in the future, and I think with so many of them being huge Fortnite fans, that to have some fun in the future. “
