For the first time: Zion Williamson was selected to the All-Star

Beginning of an article

In less than two weeks the NBA will take a break from the day-to-day madness, and move itself to Atlanta to hold the festive All-Star in a different format than usual. After the top five were announced last week, tonight (Tuesday-Wednesday) the 14 bench players, selected by the league coaches, were also announced.

West: Chris Paul, Paul George, Damien Lillard, Donovan Mitchell, Rudy Gover, Zion Williamson (first time) and Anthony Davis. Zion, by the way, is the tenth player in history to be selected to the All-Star before the age of 21.

East: James Harden, Julius Randall (first time), Jason Taitum, Jaylen Brown (first time), Zac Lavin (first time), Ben Simmons and Nikola Vucevic.

Recall that as in recent years, the All-Star Game will not be played between West and East, but between two teams selected by captains Kevin Durant and LeBron James on 4 March. The other five cast members are: Kyrie Irving, Bradley Bill, Yannis Antecompo, Joel Ambide, Steph Kerry, Luka Doncic, Kwai Leonard and Nikola Jokic.

As every year, as befits a league with so much talent, some people will be happier with the election and some less so. This season it seems that Devin Booker is the “missing name” that led to the storm around the NBA. “Morning is the player who gets the least respect in the NBA,” he tweeted LeBron James. also C.J. McCollum He joined the protest and wrote: “Morning not chosen? It’s crazy. A sick world.”

Here’s the full list of players selected last season for the Allstars, and this time left out: Morning, Pascal Siakam, Trey Young, Kamba Walker, Russell Westbrook, Domantas Savonis, Chris Middleton, Bam Adbaio, Jimmy Butler, Kyle Laurie and Brandon Ingram.

Among all these stars, two of the bigger names that provide a wonderful season so far and have stayed out, are Young and Savonis. Young is the first player in 30 years to average 25+ points per game alongside 9+ assists and was not selected for Allstar, and Savonis is the first player in history not to be selected for Allstar with averages of at least 20 points per game, 10 rebounds and 5 assists.
