For the first time: treatment of corona patients that will prevent hospitalization

For the first time in Israel: The medical center, Hadassah Ein Kerem, launched today (Monday) a new operation, which aims to prevent the aggravation of coronary heart disease in patients, and allow them home treatment without hospitalization. This is a Bamlanivimab preparation, which we brought to Israel in “Israel Today”. Yesterday, the first verified patients received the innovative treatment, and today another patient joined them.
Corona patients who stay at home and are in the initial stage of the disease, will receive a one-time treatment at the hospital in Jerusalem, which will prevent the aggravation of their disease and the need for hospitalization. The treatment is performed as a day hospitalization and lasts about two hours, of which one hour is for supervision. Access to it will be possible by ambulance only, as required by verified Corona patients.

The innovative preparation, called BAMLANIVIMAB, is given as a single infusion. The treatment consists of monoclonal antibodies concentrated in a commercial drug, which is allowed for use in Israel. The concentrated antibodies prepared by the company in the process of genetic engineering, if given at an early stage of the disease, help the patient cope with the coronavirus and prevent deterioration in the patient’s condition and the need for hospitalization.

At Hadassah Ein Kerem, verified patients from the Jerusalem area are called, with risk factors, who begin to develop symptoms of shortness of breath or cough, with an emphasis on the following patient groups: patients with anticonvulsants, chemotherapy patients, dialysis patients, organ transplants, requiring regular treatment with drugs / inhalers , Over age 65.

In order to receive the treatment, one must be equipped with the positive test result and a summary of medical information. The treatments will be given on weekdays between the hours of 8:00 and 15:00. As stated, access to Hadassah will be possible through ambulances only (MDA, Rescue Union, private ambulances – under the isolation conditions that meet the rules of the Ministry of Health).
