Five Indian players separated as boards investigate protocol breaches

MELBOURNE: Five Indian cricketers have been deported while Australian and Indian cricket boards are investigating allegations of breaching biosecurity protocols after a video emerged showing the players eating at a restaurant Melbourne.

A video posted on social media showed Rohit Sharma, Rishabh Pant, Shubman Gill, Navdeep Saini and Prithvi Shaw eating together.

Australia and India are in the middle of a series of four trials with both sides currently living in Melbourne before traveling to Sydney for a third trial from Thursday.

According to the strict biosecurity protocols set by Cricket Australia, players are allowed to sit outside but not eat inside restaurants.

“The BCCI and CA are investigating the case and trying to determine whether the trip constitutes a breach of biosecurity protocols,” Cricket Australia said in a statement.
