The governments of Israel and Morocco signed a special aviation agreement today (Thursday), which will allow direct flights between the two countries, from all their airports. The agreement signed was made possible following the announcement of the resumption of relations between the two countries. So far, Israelis have flown to Morocco through a third country. The duration of the direct flight between the countries is expected to be about five hours.

The agreement will allow direct flights between Israel to all international airports in Morocco, without restrictions on the number of companies and the volume of flights per week. The agreement will also allow the operation of 10 weekly cargo flights directly to each party. The line is expected to operate Israeli airlines and Morocco’s national airline, Royal Air Morocco. According to a statement from the Ministry of Transport, Royal Air Morocco will operate three weekly flights on the Tel Aviv-Casablanca route, with direct flights to Marrakech also planned in the future.
The agreement joins two similar aviation agreements already signed with the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain, with which Israel signed a normalization agreement. It is not yet clear when the new airlines will start operating regularly, in light of the problematic situation in which the aviation industry in Israel and around the world finds itself.
