Married At First Sight reunion will not be a ‘regular thing’, says Nine boss – after the two-part special was beaten in the rankings by Holey Moley at Seven
The Married At First Sight Grand Reunion delivered plenty of drama when it debuted last month, but unfortunately did not live up to expectations in the rankings.
And Channel Nine confirmed this week that pre-season reunion special events don’t happen regularly.
Ahead of Monday’s season premiere, Nine program head Hamish Turner told Mumbrella: ‘The facilities were particularly good – they were sort of a pre-main course meal.’

Mr Turner said the two-part Grand Reunion was a great way to generate gratitude for the new Married At First Sight season because ‘there is a very long year in television’.
But he made it clear that going forward would not be an annual tradition.
‘I don’t think it’s a regular thing,’ he said, adding: ‘I think this is one of those things where, when you get people who want to take part and we had a lot of people, who were partners, who we were talking to, and we thought, “Yeah, okay, now that we have some air time, why not let’s do it now? “

The show attracted 866,000 and 781,000 metro spectators respectively when it kicked off on Sunday, January 31, and Monday, February 1.
