On Tuesday Middletown Police staff had access to the COVID-19 vaccine, 10 months after the uprising.
“We haven’t really jumped all this time,” said Officer Jared Ceccllini. “We are still going to call and do everything we did before the pandemic struck.”
Ceccllini said he is getting the vaccine so he can try to get back to normal. He also told two 5-month-olds that this was a debate.
“You will try to be as careful as possible only as a police officer and first responder, and there is a chance that you can take something home with them and the sooner you get the vaccine the sooner you do not have to worry. to have things like that. ”
Officer Jeffrey Scoppetto was also ready for the first day of vaccinations.
“I’m just tired of the masks and the social pace and I can’t go out to the restaurants and stuff,” Scoppetto said.
The department, like others, has had officials with the virus.
“It’s been a couple of times, we do a great job in the department following all the instructions, and we have masks on and we take a lot of calls for telephone service if we can,” said Ceccllini.
A community health center is providing the vaccines in Middletown to first responders.
“But to do our part it’s very important to us here at the health center because that’s what we’re all about,” said Gary Wallace, director of community relations for the Center for Community Health, Inc. “We want to help the people, we want to help our community, we want to keep people safe. ”
They have around 4,500 vaccines and will be monitoring the progress of the first round as they plan for more vaccination space over the next few weeks.
“We will order more as we need them, but we also need to follow state guidance on what we can do,” Wallace said.
Scoppetto hopes those who can get the vaccine will sign up. He also hopes to return to normal.
