Expected to open in fall 2022, the upcoming Studio’s Ghibli theme park will feature a life-size replica of Howl Mobile Castle along with attractions inspired by other famous Ghibli films for fans visit them.
Announced in 2017, Japan’s much-anticipated Studio Ghibli Theme Park was supposed to open big last year. It was delayed later until 2023 due to the pandemic, but the good news is that some attractions will be completed in time for the soft opening phase by fall 2022 – bringing into a true motionless replica of the magic castle from Hayao Miyazaki film, Howl mobile castle (2003).
The 16-meter-high castle will be built in one of five unique themed zones across the park at the Aichi Earth Expo Memorial Park near Nagoya, where visitors will have the opportunity to explore the side inside as well.

As well as mocking Ghibli fans with preview image of the castle, Aichi Prefecture, the local authority leading the theme park project, has released a little more concept art of another forest attraction inspired by the town of Irontown from Princess of Mononoke (1997). This area is expected to open in 2023 along with other interesting resources on the subject of other Ghibli cult classics, including Kiki Delivery Service (1989), Neighbor Totoro (1988) and more.
While there is still time to wait for the park to officially open, you can always browse and enjoy Studio Ghibli’s work on Netflix in the comfort of your home.
