Find the nearest Covid-19 test location with Amazon Alexa

You can ask Alexa to find the nearest place to get a Covid-19 test.

Amazon recently added a new feature to its Alexa voice assistant that lets you get the closest location to a Covid-19 test.

It works on phones and through the Amazon Echo smart speaker. I think it’s better on a phone (or an Echo with a screen) because it shows you a list of nearby places and how far each place is. Here’s what to do.

  • Open the Alexa app on your phone.
  • At the top, click the ‘Tap to Talk to Alexa’ button.
  • Say: ‘Where can I get a test for Covid-19?’

Alexa returns a list of nearby locations using data extracted from GISCorps and other sources, such as Yelp. In my case, it showed a total of eight locations within 10 miles of me. If you click on a location, you will see a phone number that you can call to confirm that orders are available, if one is required. If you are using an Echo that does not show all locations, just say “Alexa, call first” to call the recommended test location.
