Family tragedy: Two sisters became infected in Corona, gave birth and died two weeks apart

A young Arab woman named Shurok Jarban, a Corona patient who had been hospitalized for about a month at Hillel Yaffe Hospital in critical condition, died last night (Tuesday) after another sudden worsening of her condition. The baby shirt was in good condition a few weeks ago.
Shurok, from one of the localities in the Zichron area, was hospitalized about a month ago in the ward designated for pregnant women in Corona. After a few days, her condition deteriorated and it was decided to give the woman a caesarean section. The baby shirt was in good condition and was transferred for further preterm care. After the surgery, Shurok’s respiratory condition continued to deteriorate, and she was resuscitated, anesthetized and transferred to a general intensive care unit in a very difficult but stable condition.

This morning, suddenly, her condition began to deteriorate even more significantly. And despite the tremendous efforts of the multi-professional staff who cared for her throughout, she died.

It is important to note that Shurok’s sister, Amna Kahwaji, went through a similar ordeal, when a few weeks ago she was also hospitalized at Meir Hospital in Kfar Saba while she was in advanced pregnancy and when she was ill in Corona. Also in this tragic case, the doctors decided to give the woman a caesarean section in order to save the baby, who was transferred for further treatment to the preterm infant. But Amna, whose body did not withstand the load after the operation, died after a few days.

Dr. Boris Iskowitz, director of the General Intensive Care Unit at Hillel Yaffe: “This is a woman in her 20s, who had her first birth. The coronary heart disease from which she suffered was severe, and therefore, although not with any background diseases, her treatment was very complex. We fought for her life every day. My heart goes out to the family. “

It will be recalled that last month, the late Osnat Ben Sheetrit, another mother, died of the virus at Hadassah Ein Kerem. Ben Sheetrit became pregnant and was hospitalized with severe respiratory distress. Extremely prolonged, and a caesarean section at week 30 to try and save the fetus. The condition of the mother and fetus was human and they died.
