False declaration of residence to enjoy a general tax benefit

The tax authority has published that Anatoly Moskowitz, CEO of a chocolate production company arrested on suspicion of making a false declaration of residence in a locality that confers a tax benefit: declared that he lived in Sderot and actually lived in Rishon Lezion.

Moskowitz, a resident of Rishon Lezion and CEO of Intergata Food Industries for chocolate production, was brought before the Jerusalem Magistrate’s Court on suspicion of making a false declaration of residence in a locality that provides a tax benefit, with the aim of illegally enjoying it.

The arrest request indicates that as part of the activities of the Assessing Officer of the Jerusalem and Southern Income Tax Investigations in cooperation with the Ashkelon Assessing Officer, the suspicion arose that he was enjoying the tax benefit illegally. Following the suspicion, Moskowitz was brought in for questioning, where it emerged that in 2010-2019 he reported in Form 101 that his place of residence was in Sderot, a locality that enjoys a tax benefit, even though in practice he lived in Rishon Lezion. Thus, the suspect consistently and systematically took advantage of the tax benefit that is given to Sderot residents and enjoys a tax credit in the total amount of NIS 422,000.

In addition, during the investigation, it emerged that Moskowitz had a number of assets from which he generated income in the years 2011-2019 in the amount of NIS 600,000, without reporting them on time.

The Honorable Justice Elazar Bialin of the Jerusalem Magistrate’s Court released the suspect under restrictive conditions, including a personal commitment of NIS 300,000, a third-party guarantee of NIS 100,000, and a cash deposit of NIS 5,000.
