Everton vs Arsenal lineups as Jordan Pickford made a decision and a new role for Mason Holgate

‘Some of Gomes’ favorite form came in this form’

Phil Kirkbride: Everton are expected to need to be set up to be a bit more advanced against struggling Arsenal, than they were a few weeks ago.

But this is not the time to return to 4-3-3 as the team still misses key workers who will make the system work.

Plus, Soldiers Gunners would get an open game that would allow their fast-forward promoters to run the space behind Everton’s four – even though they’ve looked a bit late.

But that is the key, keeping those strongholds at the back and in front.

Abdoulaye Doucoure needs to have another big game, with Allan out, but Andre Gomes should get the nod to play alongside him.

Some of Gomes’ favorite Everton form came when he ran games in this format alongside Idrissa Gueye.

My team (4-2-3-1): Pickford, Holgate, Keane, Mina, Godfrey, Doucoure, Gomes, Iwobi, Sigurdsson, Richarlison, Calvert-Lewin

‘Big day for Andre Gomes’

Sam Carroll: You wouldn’t normally change a winning team. But Seamus Coleman’s return brings food for thought.

Jordan Pickford returns in the goal while Andre Gomes comes in for the injured Allan. It’s a big day for a Portuguese midfielder to show what it’s all about.

Everton FC news a must read

I would be tempted to take a break from Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Alex Iwobi but Arsenal are still a threat no matter what their limping start to the season is.

With that in mind, only two changes are needed.

My team (4-3-3): Pickford; Holgate, Mina, Keane, Godfrey; Doucoure, Gomes, Sigurdsson; Iwobi, Calvert-Lewin, Richarlison.

‘Mason Holgate moved to midfield’

Connor O’Neill: The big question facing Carlo Ancelotti is who will replace Allan.

Andre Gomes and Tom Davies are the two obvious candidates, but if I were Carlo I would try something different.

With Seamus Coleman expected to return, I would start at right back and move Mason Holgate into midfield alongside Abdoulaye Doucoure and Gylfi Sigurdsson.

Jordan Pickford, one imaginative one returns in the goal, with Yerry Mina, Michael Keane and Ben Godfrey joining Coleman at the back.

Richarlison and Alex Iwobi will undoubtedly start on both sides, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin leading the line again.

My team (4-1-2-3): Pickford; Coleman, Mina, Keane, Godfrey; Holgate, Doucoure, Sigurdsson; Iwobi, Richarlison, Calvert-Lewin.
