Ever Watched: Zahavi’s show broke records

Beginning of an article

Amusingly, EA seems to have contributed to Ajax’s game against PSV that took place this week to become the most watched game in the history of the Dutch league. This was reported by ESPN in the Netherlands, which reported that more than 1.46 million fans watched the game that aired on January 10. The reason? The game’s popular Ultimate Tim mode.

EA has released special SBC cards for a limited time of Donil Mullen and Sean Kleiber, Created especially for the game in preparation for it. Beyond the fact that these cards contain upgraded data relative to the regular cards of the players – the results of the game were meant to affect the ranking, which was supposed to increase by two points for each player whose team won the game.

In the end, the game ended in a 2: 2 draw thanks to a pair scored by Eran Zehavi, and in such a situation – both cards were added to the ranking, but only by one point. Although there is quite a bit of criticism of the Ultimate Team mode, it is an interesting situation where EA manages to create hype around real world games through its virtual game mode.
