Epic Games has bought Tonic Games Group, the developer behind it Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout. Epic Games is widely known for its battle royale game Fortnite. The company announced the acquisition of Tonic Games Group on Tuesday. In a blog post, Epic Games said, despite the build, the gameplay for the popular feel Fall Guys will not change. While currently available on PC and PlayStation, Epic has made sure that plans to roll it out to Nintendo Switch and Xbox are still going strong as Tonic said earlier.

Dave Bailey, Co-Founder and CEO of Tonic Games Group, said Epic seems like a home for those made for them. He said the two companies “share [their] the purpose of building and supporting games that make a positive impact, empower others and stand the test of time ”.

Epic Games makes sure the gameplay for Fall Guys doesn’t change.

Tim Sweeney, Founder and CEO of Epic Games, commented on how Tonic shared their vision of building a metaverse.

In another blog post, Tonic said Fall Guys that they will not change in any way and that Epic will help them in delivering the timely updates to the game. Fall Guys you will also find some of the features such as counting systems, cross play, squad vs squad modes shown in Fortnite and Rocket League in the future. Epic recently purchased the online game Rocket League.

The Q&A also ruled out that the game was not going to be free-to-play at the moment. The post added why they chose Epic Games, saying that both companies had a lot in common and that Tonic is sure to take Fall Guys to the next level with support from Epic behind them.

Fall Guys was released in August 2020 and soon became a worldwide sensation. The game has several jelly beans as the main characters of the battle royale and features a battle pass system, which can also be seen in Fortnite.
