Dermot O’Leary was left feeling a little emotional after speaking to his parents this Friday morning.
The 47-year-old TV star spoke to Seán and Maria, who came in from their home in Wexford, Ireland, and could not stop laughing as they told the funny stories of her childhood.
But Dermot left some viewers baffled while referring to his host mother and father as ‘boys’ in the realm of a heartless family.
Call from home: Dermot O’Leary was left feeling a bit emotional after speaking to his parents this Friday morning, while spectators baptized him gracefully calling them ‘boys’
During their conversation, Alison asked Maria what Dermot looked like as a child after the star introduced her parents as ‘boys’.
Maria gushed: ‘He was very loving and rude. He was a great entertainer and always got up and sang an Irish song when we were with friends.
He was also a huge fan of Brendan Shine. When he was seven we took a look at Brendan and just as he came on stage Dermot found two hard sets and slept through the entire performance! ‘
Dermot laughed at the funny story, with Alison adding that he is still sleeping through things as she said: ‘It does that now and we wake him up in the TV times! ‘

Proud parents: Seán and Maria broke in from their home in Wexford, Ireland and couldn’t stop laughing as they were telling stories about Dermot’s childhood
Elsewhere, Dermot explained that he was asked to appear on Who Do You Think You Are but did not make the show in the end because his family history was less interesting.
Not liking this result, he said his parents had been looking into the past with Sean saying on the show that the family had a very colorful history.
Dermot’s father – who had a strong Irish flavor – said the O’Leary’s were related to the kings of Ireland and even linked to murders by the mafia in the USA.
Co-host Alison Hammond was a bit skeptical of this idea and joked that the show may have decided to go along with someone else who had a similar story.
Dermot then concluded the sweet piece by telling his parents to stay safe and get the vaccine in Ireland as soon as they can.

He also joked that this is the first time he has seen his parents in costume for a while as he usually calls them early in the morning with his baby Kasper.
After blessing them, Dermot turned to his fellow guest and said: ‘How should I make the menu now?’
Alison replied sweetly: ‘Don’t be emotional. Do you want me to start it? ‘
After O’Leary’s appearance several followers took to Twitter to share their excitement about the appearance and questioned why Dermot called them ‘boys’.
One person wrote: ‘Dermot apparently calls his parents’ boys ‘an Irish thing’.

Dermot revealed that his family history was considered too insignificant for Who do you think you are? earlier in the week.
Representatives of the popular series spent months surveying the TV presenter’s family with the hopes that he might participate in a program but did not enjoy what they found.
Speaking on Snot’s maternity podcast, Sweat & Tears, Dermot said: ‘They surveyed my family for about three months. They came back and said, “There are just not enough interesting things about your family”.
Wexford is a port town, and all my family are seafarers. I have good authority that two of them went to America.
‘One was a police officer and the other a judge and both were killed by the Mafia in the 1930s. They had no trace of this. I was like, ‘What are you about?’ We’ve been everywhere, we’re a family of sailors. ‘
‘I don’t think they were trying hard enough. It’s awful isn’t it? Absolutely horrible. ‘
Dermot married his wife Dee Koppang in 2012 after ten years together at St. Mary’s Church in Chiddingstone, Kent.
The couple first met in 2002 while working at the same TV production company and moved to New York in December 2011.
They greeted their son Kasper in June, confirming the birth with a sweet snap that was shared to Instagram of a baby rabbit and a toy donated for the tot.
